David Bowie - Interview - Afternoon plus - 1979 [x]
Oh my god.
Mavis Nicholson was a fantastic interviewer. One of the best television journalists of all time. Ten times better at her job than Michael Parkinson. Celebrate her more than you do rockstar Bowie I’d say.
Perhaps she didn’t believe him because Bowie changed his mind about his sexuality a thousand times and she might have been proposing he used sexuality as a tool to shock.
Bowie once called bisexuality a phase of experimentation to find out whether you’re straight or gay. And he claimed being straight during the height of the aids crisis in the West when gay men were truly reviled by a large part of the public. Bowie changed his tune about everything depending on what book he had read that week.
